Very rarely do I find a pair of pants that fit me at the hips and waistline. Since I have a pear frame, I usually have to buy pants that fit my hip measurement, then have the waistline taken in. Today I am sharing one way that I take in my pants utilizing elastic. This alteration usually takes me anywhere between 10-15 minutes and does not require a sewing machine, but it does require beginner sewing skills.

Create two incisions on the inside of the waistline. Only cut the inside, do not cut the outside fabric.
Pin the elastic to one side and fish it through the incision to the other side.

Try the pants on and pull the elastic to the tightness you prefer, then pin the opposite side of the elastic down.
Sew the elastic down on each side. Trim the excess elastic.

Now you have a pair of jeans that fit perfectly along the waistline! And who doesn’t love the extra wiggle room after a tasty meal?! The jeans I wore are Levis Women’s Low Pro Jeans in the White Stonewash color.
