My Favorite Places to Visit in Boston During the Spring

Spring in Boston feels like the city waking up after a long winter. The streets come alive with blooming trees, outdoor dining, and that unmistakable buzz that makes you want to wander without a plan. Some neighborhoods truly shine this time of year, and Back Bay is at the top of my list. If you’re visiting Boston in the spring or rediscovering it as a local, these are my favorite spots you won’t want to miss.

Tatte Bakery & Café (Charles Street)

No Boston spring itinerary is complete without a stop at Tatte, especially the Charles Street location. It’s the perfect place to start your day with a pastry and coffee before heading out to explore. The cozy interior paired with the charm of Beacon Hill nearby makes it ideal for a slow spring morning. Grab something sweet, sip your latte, and enjoy the feeling of the city easing into warmer days.

Commonwealth Avenue Mall for Magnolia Trees

If you’re chasing spring blooms, Commonwealth Avenue is the spot. When the magnolia trees are in full bloom, the entire stretch feels magical. Soft pinks and whites line the walkway, making it one of the prettiest places in the city for a stroll (and photos). It’s a short walk from so many Back Bay highlights and absolutely worth timing your visit around peak bloom.

Boston Public Library

The Boston Public Library is beautiful year-round, but there’s something extra special about it in the spring. The courtyard begins to feel like an oasis in the middle of the city, and the natural light streaming through the historic spaces makes it a must-visit. Whether you’re browsing, reading, or just stopping in to admire the architecture, it’s a peaceful break from the bustle outside.

The Salty Girl

Spring calls for seafood, and The Salty Girl delivers every time. It’s the perfect spot for a relaxed lunch or dinner after a day of exploring. Fresh oysters, a chic atmosphere, and that classic Back Bay energy make it a standout. It feels elevated but still approachable which is ideal for lingering over a meal with friends.

Grill 23 & Bar

When it comes to cocktails, Grill 23 & Bar is a must. Their iced-rim martinis and cosmos are iconic and feel especially fitting as the weather warms up. It’s a great place to dress up a little, unwind, and enjoy one of Boston’s most classic bar scenes. Perfect for an evening stop after dinner or a celebratory night out.

Back Bay, in General

Spring is when Back Bay truly shines. Tree-lined streets, brownstones, café patios, and blooming flowers make it one of the most walkable and picturesque areas in the city. Whether you’re shopping on Newbury Street, strolling Commonwealth Ave, or hopping between cafés and restaurants, it’s the kind of neighborhood that invites you to slow down and enjoy the season.

Boston in the spring is all about the balance of historic charm, fresh blooms, great food, and timeless spots that won’t disappoint.
