DIY Mirror Welcome Sign

I’ve had my Silhouette machine for almost 10 years now and she’s still kickin’! I brought out my machine for the first time in a while to create my own custom welcome sign for my 30th birthday par(tea). Here is a tutorial on how I created the sign!

Supplies:

  • Mirror (I thrifted mine and spray painted it gold)
  • Silhouette (or Cricut Machine)
  • Temporary vinyl
  • Transfer tape

Instructions

  1. Measure your mirror and determine the size of the decals you will need
  2. Create your message in Silhouette studio
  3. Send your design to the machine to cut
  4. Peel away unnecessary vinyl, leaving only the vinyl cut outs you want to use as decals on the mirror
  5. Place transfer tape over the decals
  6. Clean off any debris from the mirror
  7. Place the decals (with backing) onto the mirror to figure out spacing
  8. Peel away the backing of the decal and place onto the mirror
  9. Give the decals a good press to ensure the adhesive sticks to the mirror
  10. Peel off transfer tape

Tips

  • If you are painting the frame of your mirror, complete that first before adding the decals. Spray painting (if you use that method) can get everywhere so it’s better to spray first and clear off the mirror completely before adding the decals.
  • When figuring out decal placement (step 7) I used painters tape to ensure everything was evenly spaced.
