DIY Raw Hem Jeans

If you’re looking for an easy and stylized way to finish the hem of your jeans, a raw hem may be your answer. It’s a trendy way to style — you can see a couple of examples from Anthropologie and Oliver Logan.

As a 5’0 petite person, I often have to get my pants and jeans hemmed, but that can become costly. If I’m looking for a quick fix, I usually opt for the raw hem style. So here’s a two step lazy girl’s guide to a perfect raw hem.

Measure to your preferred length and cut straight across

Distress the freshly cut edges

The photo at the top of this post is a freshly cut and distressed session, but trust me, the look becomes better after a couple of washes! The jeans I wore are Levis Women’s Low Pro Jeans in the White Stonewash color.
