My 90 Day 5k Training Plan

Last year my health goal was to focus on strength and lifting. This year, my goal is to bring in more cardio into my workout and to motivate myself I’m challenging myself to run four 5k races throughout the year. By spacing my races out once a quarter, I hope to stick to my cardio goal and see progress via races over the full year. I just finished my first race of the year: Northside Hospital Atlanta Women’s 5k!

Before I share my training plan I want to mention I am not an expert in health and fitness. I had a brief history of running track and cross country when I was in high school, but that was the extent.

Without further-ado, here is my 90-day plan!

Now, this is the plan that I did my best to follow. I started during December, so I couldn’t stick to this plan 100% due to holiday and work travel. I say this to remind you that it is okay to take time off or an extra rest day. Life gets in the way sometimes and you should take it easy on yourself. It was difficult for me to get back on track after some time off, but seeing the progress after my first race was 100% worth the struggle.
