I’ve always loved the idea of having fresh herbs for home cooked meals AND incorporating a vertical plant wall garden as decor. I figured I could combine the two by making my own indoor vertical herb garden in my kitchen!
Here were some inspirational photos that I came across on Pinterest vs what I put together:

To build this, I used six Self Watering Indoor Wall Planter that I purchased from Amazon. These are lightweight and include four 4” pots. These are a great choice because they have a self-watering feature so it is super easy to maintain.

Herbs used:
- Basil (x5)
- Red Romaine Lettuce (x5)
- Rosemary (x2)
- Thyme (x1)
- Dill (x1)
- Sage (x1)
- Peppermint (x1)
- Spearmint (x1)
- Pothos as filler, not edible (x2)
I also decided to use 3″ biodegradable seed starting pots to make repotting easier.
I haven’t filled all of the pots yet because I want to test the best arrangement and herbs that suit my needs.
So far everything is working well and I’m so happy to have fresh herbs ready to go for my home cooked meals.
