Powder Room Update

This room has been in need of this minor update for a little over one year and I’m so excited to share the details and selects!

When we first purchased our house, the powder room was covered in outdated wallpaper. Before we moved in, we had the wall paper removed and the room painted to Sherwin Williams Arcade White (same as the rest of the house).

Design Process

I always begin with a basic inspo deck at the start of the process. I’m a visual person and I need to see how everything looks together before acting on it. I’m also not the best with words . . . and a picture is worth a thousand words, riiiiight? 😉 Now, I don’t have the software a professional interior designer uses, so I usually use Google Slides as my visualizer or planner. Here’s a peek at my super simple deck:

Selects

After I put the deck together, I begin looking for selects within my budget that fit the overall vibe. Here is what I ended up choosing:

I attempted installing the new faucet myself, but it was extremely difficult. I called in a plumber to complete the job and I’m proud to say, he also said it was a difficult task due to the pedestal sink. In order to swap out the faucets, he had to move the entire sink bowl from the wall and the pedestal base.

For the wall sconce installation, we had to work some electrical magic in order to bring the light positioning down and stay up to code. We ended up keeping the original junction box and materials and created a removable panel to route the wire from the junction box to the lower positioning for the sconces.

As you may know, I love Williams Sonoma brands because of their commitment to sustainability. I absolutely fell in love with these fair trade alabaster sconces from Pottery Barn. The stone brings an organic feel to the space and pairs beautifully with the lime wash walls.

On to the paint job, I’ve always wanted to try painting a room with limewash! I love the natural and textured look it gives to a room. I reviewed samples from a few different companies and ended up liking the Grey Suede color from Color Atelier the best.

I used their mineral primer as well as 3 coats of the lime paint. It was super easy to work with and the most difficult areas were the concave corners. I was silly and decided to use lime paint in the one room with the most corners in our house lol

I’m overjoyed with how everything came together! Up next is adding hardware and styling the room. Stay tuned!
