La Jolla is one of my absolute favorite California cities. I can’t say enough good things about it! So, here’s my complete travel guide for the trip I took to La Jolla with my husband!
Where We Stayed
We stayed at the prettiest pink hotel, La Valencia Hotel, that I’ve ever seen. The location is walkable distance to the beach and downtown La Jolla. They had the most stunning floral arrangement (which I was told is refreshed weekly) and freshly made cookies in the lobby.
Since the hotel is right downtown, we didn’t need to use our car often. But there were a couple instances when we were dressed nicely and had to walk a little further than a mile – so we took the house car.
The last feature that I love about La Valencia is the live music! We were able to enjoy cocktails and small bites while listening to pop jazz music. It made for a fun and relaxing evening.

Dining Experiences
We ate at a variety of restaurants, many of which were located in downtown La Jolla and walking distance from La Valencia. There is only one restaurant in the list below (Piatti) where a car was necessary.
- Nine Ten Restaurant & Bar – Michelin Rated
- La Sala
- Blue Ocean/Harumama
- Piatti
- Sugar And Scribe

Other Fun Adventures
- La Jolla Boardwalk
- Boomer Beach Tide Pools – I’m a sucker for tide pooling
- Downtown La Jolla – we spent the majority of our free time walking around the area and enjoying the beautiful SoCal weather.

La Jolla is hands down one of my top favorite places in California. I can’t wait to visit again!
