Greece Travel Guide

My husband and I celebrated our 5 year wedding anniversary in Greece this summer. I’ve always wanted to go to Greece – it was one of my bucket list places to explore since high school. Of course, I was drawn by all of the influencer pictures of Santorini and Mykonos. I wanted to see the blue domes and dance in the streets like Meryl Streep and Amanda Seyfried in Mamma Mia. Never in a million years would I have imagined staying in rural Greece at one of the most luxurious 5 star hotels. I can’t wait to share brief snippets of the journey with you! So without further ado . . .

Where We Stayed

We spent 5 days in Porto Heli and 2 days in Athens. The first 5 days were spent at Amanzoe (one of many Aman Resorts).  It’s located on the east side of the Peloponnese near Porto Heli. The resort had some of the most scenic views I’ve ever seen – surrounded by native olive groves, honeysuckle, and lavender, the landscape was beautifully manicured to create a Grecian oasis. Not to mention the gorgeous views of the Aegean sea.

The staff members at Amanzoe were extremely attentive and anticipated what we needed before we knew we needed it. They took care of all of our scheduling whether it was for activities or reservations for dining – which was great because they were able to translate on our behalf. There was no anxiety or stress around planning because they took care of everything for us – we didn’t need to lift a finger! It was the best service I have ever experienced. Ahh, I’m so ready to go back.

Our final two days were spent in Athens at the Four Season’s Astir Palace Hotel Athens. The fast paced and upbeat environment was a big change from Amanzoe. Upon arrival, they delivered champagne and a sweet dessert for us to celebrate our anniversary. It was delicious!

Astir Palace has several places to dine and shop at the hotel. They also have their own private beach! We didn’t have to travel far to find something fun to do.

Dining Experiences

Since we were celebrating our anniversary and we are foodies, we went all out. We tried to find some of the highest rated restaurants in the area we were in because . . . when is the next time we will have the opportunity to do this?! I’m sharing a list of some of our favorite spots that we dined at. Anything indicated with an asterisk (*) signifies it is Michelin rated:
